Floor protection on site: the role of DEFENCE ADHESIVE on the CLT construction site

In the new health centre in Kodleberget built by WOODCON AS in Bjerkreim, the structure made of CLT panels implies the need for floor protection on the construction site: DEFENCE ADHESIVE proved to be the best option to combine speed of installation and protection from humidity. The Norwegian climate, characterised by heavy rainfall, imposes solutions capable of reducing the risks of wood degradation already during the installation phases. For this reason, SLOT and DEFENCE ADHESIVE were chosen as structural connector and waterproofing membrane respectively, providing an effective response to the needs of the construction site. 

CLT panels and reduced installation time 

The SLOT connector proved essential to the success of this project. Designed to provide extremely rigid structural joints, SLOT allows large monolithic surfaces to be reconstituted by joining CLT panels quickly and effectively.  
SLOT is perfect for both CLT wall and floor and allows to reassemble large monolithic panels that have been previously cut for transportation.  
Its wedge shape simplifies insertion into the groove, while the honeycomb structure maximises strength. Made of aluminium, it is light and easy to handle. It offers the possibility of assembly with inclined auxiliary screws that make tightening between panels easy.  

Its performance is outstanding: one connector can replace up to 60 Ø6 screws, which reduces installation time. SLOT is CE-marked, in accordance with ETA, which is also why it was chosen by WOODCON AS. 

DEFENCE ADHESIVE: protection of floors and other CLT elements on site 

To prevent rain and seepage from damaging the wooden surface, WOODCON AS protected floors on the construction site with Rothoblaas DEFENCE ADHESIVE self-adhesive membrane.  

This solution adheres easily to the timber, forming a continuous barrier against water. In addition, its resistance to trampling and the possibility of repositioning in the event of laying errors allow work to proceed without slowing down.  

In a context characterised by frequent rainfall, DEFENCE ADHESIVE therefore proves to be an ad hoc solution, capable of guaranteeing dry wood and long-lasting performance. The versatility and reliability of this membrane have made it an ideal choice to cope with Bjerkreim's difficult climatic conditions.
